Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts is my absolute favorite video game series! It has everything a game of its genre should need in my opinion. A good story-line, fun gameplay, intense action, comic relief, and of course fabulous graphics! Now some of you may see that the developer is SquareEnix (previously know as Square Soft) and think of Final Fantasy. Then look at Kingdom Hearts and see that there are Final Fantasy characters in it, and think its just some kiddie version of Final Fantasy especially after you see all the Disney characters in it. If you have, you are utterly mistaken. Kingdom Hearts is, in my opinion, better than Final Fantasy in almost every way. Another good thing about Kingdom Hearts is since it is Co-developed by Disney, they will allow VERY little to no profanity in it. Really who can blame them though? Disney likes to be able to keep younger kids in the zone, even if the game is directed towards teens. Surely though, can you actually see Goofy or Mickey screaming curse words?

On the lines of gameplay (this is averaged for the whole series. Results may be different per game) the graphics are beautiful and the controls are easy to use. The graphics are really indescribable for the years when the games in this series are made, so you will just have to look up some gameplay video's on YouTube and trust me that they are going to be good. The controls are a breeze to memorize, especially when the beginning part of the story to each game is basically a detailed tutorial. If you play other adventure type genre games then you may be wondering why the jump button is circle in the beginning, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Having a good story-line is one main key to a successful game. Kingdom Hearts has swallowed that key so that they shall forever have first-class story-lines. I won't go into any further detail about the story, so I won't be a spoiler to anyone.

As I stated previously, there is hardly any offensive material at all in this series. Violence isn't bad at all. There is only one use of language (Explained below in Note #1). In Kingdom Hearts II there is the Pirates of the Caribbean world that you have to visit where Captain Barbossa "consumes" some rum. Although he isn't really consuming it, since he is in un-dead (skeleton) form at the time. The only other thing I would warn about is there is an Aladdin stage and a Little Mermaid stage, so both Jasmine and Ariel are wearing their usual attire. Also one character from the Final Fantasy series, Yuffie, doesn't wear that much clothing either. Both her top and shorts look 5 sizes too small

My final thoughts are, you should at least have a look at this game series. Once many of you have beheld the overwhelming excellence of this series you will have to pick one of them up! If you do, I recommend getting the first one first, since all of the stories are connected, so if you just pick up the story with, say the third game, then you will be in the dark at most places of the story.

Kingdom Hearts series in order of release:
Kingdom Hearts (Sept. 16, 2002) Playstation 2
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (Dec. 7, 2004) Game Boy Advance
Kingdom Hearts II (Mar. 28, 2006) Playstation 2
Kingdom Hearts: RE: Chain of Memories (Dec. 2, 2008) Playstation 2
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (Sept. 29, 2009) Nintendo DS
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep (Sept. 7, 2010) Playstation Portable
Kingdom Hearts: RE: Coded (Jan. 11, 2011) Nintendo DS

Note #1: Kingdom Hearts: RE: Chain of Memories is a direct remake of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, but completely re-made to fit Playstation 2 qualities. Also, in the GBA version, there is a Mild Language descriptor. One of the enemies says "Give me one h*** of a show!". Disney allowed this because it was not actually said, for all GBA games have written text instead of voice-overs. Disney did not allow this to be said in the PS2 re-make.

Note #2: Kingdom Hearts RE: Coded is a completely re-made and expanded version of the mobile app, Kingdom Hearts Coded.
